The Collective Agreement is a written contract between the APUO and the Board of Governors of the University of Ottawa which provides the terms of employment for professors (other than visiting professors), language teachers, counsellors, librarians, and certain research fellows working for the University of Ottawa. Through the Collective Agreement, the University recognizes the APUO as the exclusive bargaining agent of all those employees it represents. The Collective Agreement is normally re-negotiated every three years.

KNOW YOUR COLLECTIVE AGREEMENT
Taking inspiration from the work of other faculty associations, the APUO is proud to launch a new Know your Collective Agreement series. Each bulletin explains various aspects of the 2012-2016 Collective Agreement.
Bulletin #1 attempts to enumerate and demystify the benefits provided by article 40 of the Collective Agreement.
Bulletin #2 attempts to enumerate and demystify the different types of leaves provided by articles 26, 27, 28, 29 and 31.2 of the Collective Agreement.
Bulletin #3 examines articles on discrimination and accommodation, language requirements, members’ files, reduced workload and other articles.
